Dress Up
Swinging
One of Lily's new talents is smiling and she loves to smile! She smiles at Mommy and Daddy, and at Grandma and Boppo when she gets the chance, but her favorite person to smile at is herself! Her swing has a reflection mirror and Lily has recently discovered herself in it. She loves to lay in her swing, watch the leaves and birds rotate around, and smile at herself.
She also has a mobile above her pack-n-play where she sleeps at night. Lily is mesmerized by watching the bears rotate around. In the mornings she will smile and kick without taking her eyes off of it. She loves it and I love watching her take such pleasure in it.
And here is just a sweet picture of Lily and Daddy adoring each other...

2 Month Check Up
I had to go see the doctor today. They made me take off all my clothes (except my diaper!) and put me on a special scale. It said I weighed 9lbs 12.5oz which is apparently in the 25 percentile of two month olds. Then they stretched out my foot to measure how long I am. The nurse said that I am 23 inches long, that's another two inches since last month! Mommy said that must have been the result of all my growth spurts.
I got to kick and stretch on the table and talk with mommy until the doctor came in. He was nice, although I don't know why he feels the need to poke around in my nose and ears. It tickled! He said I was growing well and very healthy. Up to that point I was enjoying my appointment, but then the nurse came back in. She made me eat this gross stuff and then poked me really hard in both legs! I was glad mommy was there to make me feel better. When I got home I was so tired, I slept for an hour and a half all by myself in the crib, instead of my usual 30 minute nap.
Then mommy and I went for a walk and she dressed me up like a teddy bear.
I was so tired at the end of the day I went to bed at 5 o'clock! Maybe I'll make mommy get up and play with me tonight...
Growing Pains
Ways to tell if your baby is going through a growth spurt!
1. When an outfit that seems a little too big when you put it on in the morning seems just the right size by bed time.
2. When you try on a two piece outfit that looks huge just to see how big it is, knowing you will take it right back off, and it fits.
3. When your baby insist on eating at least every two hours, instead of the normal three hour routine you are use to, even during the night.
4. You and your baby are exhausted, but can't sleep due to those two hour feedings.

Fish 'n' Chips
Yes, this is very random but Jeff was very excited about his new deep fryer so I figured it was worth a post. For the past couple years, Jeff has really wanted a deep fryer and this year for Christmas he finally got one.
One night we decided to test it out. Using some yummy halibut caught by one of our good friends and sweet potatoes, we created our own fish 'n' chips.

Overall it turned out well. We learned some lessons (the fish needed less time and apparently sweet potatoes are too soft to fry well) and look forward to more experiments in the future!

My Precious Valentines
Grandma Kay, who lives in Palm Springs, sent her love through the mail. She sent Lily a big keepsake book to fill with love throughout the years. It is a special place for Lily to keep cards, notes, pictures, and other fun things from Grandma Kay sends. It will act as a wonderful reminder that even though she can't be here very often for parties and play dates, she is thinking of Lily every day.
Lily didn't get any special cookies this year, but she did get to celebrate with some very special people. The Friday before Valentine's Day, we headed up to my mom's for a party with Lily's aunts and cousins. Of course it was a tea party with heart shaped sandwiches and other fun finger foods. Lily even got her own place at the table, but she wanted to share with her mom. She is so thoughtful. After her short nap she even spent much of the tea at the table because she insist on being part of the fun these days.
It's not all tea parties at Grandma's- there was also lots of time for playing and reading. The kids enjoyed some of there favorites: Lightening McQueen and Cinderella. I think Jake read Lightening McQueen at least three times. How fun to spend the day together!
I feel so blessed by my two precious valentines. What a great day to celebrate the love we have for others and to remember that we are able to love because God first loved us. After all, He is the ultimate valentine!
